It is unfortunate in the 21st century some African countries still exercise the choice of coup to change constitutionally elected government. The recent coup d’état in Mali is unacceptable and a shame to Africa’s young democratic dispensation and FOSDA condemns it unconditionally.

We commend the President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita who stepped down to avoid “bloodshed” for his true statesmanship. We recommend strongly the use of dialogue in settling of disputes at all levels of engagements.

We call on the ECOWAS and AU to institute a swift measures to ensure Mali is back to a constitutional rule within the shortest possible time.
