FOSDA RETREAT: CREATING THE NEW FOSDA TOGETHER: A JOURNEY OF POSSIBILITY.

The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) has held its annual retreat for 2021 in Accra at Ampomaah Tourist Hotel from 1st-3rd February 2021. FOSDA’s annual staff retreat is an important part of the organization’s development strategy to promote staff bonding and generate new ideas for the year. This is pivotal to the staff’s harmony and productivity because as the saying goes ‘All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy (& Jill a dull girl).

FOSDA trains Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM) Committees on Pro-Poor development monitoring

The Foundation for Security and Development (FOSDA) has trained eleven (11) citizens (3-females and 8-males) to monitor pro-poor development projects in the Jirapa and Shai Osudoku districts.

The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) has deployed 80 Peace Ambassadors to promote peace in selected hotspots in the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area. The peace tour was held on the 6th December,2020 and targeted the electorate in general and strategically the youth who are the likely perpetrators of violence.

GHANA ELECTION 2020: CITIZENS AND MUST CONDUCT THEMSELVES PEACEFULLY

The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) is calling the citizenry to conduct themselves peacefully ahead of the general elections to take place in the next 3 days. Importantly, this call entreats the youth who constitute over a third of the population not to allow themselves to be used as “puppets” to perpetrate violence.

GHANA ELECTION 2020: FOSDA MARCH FOR PEACE

The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) has joined Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Accra to March for Peace ahead of the 2020 General Elections scheduled for 7th December, 2020. The March, dubbed “All Women and Youth Call for Peace” was a crucial one, ahead of the 4 days before the elections. CSOs Bemoan the state of Arms Regulations in Ghana

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) working on Peace and Security in Ghana have bemoaned the current status of arms regulation in Ghana. The group has expressed great concern that Ghana has hardly performed its obligations under the many international treaties, conventions and protocols on arms, especially Small Arms and Light Weapons (SAWL) it has signed onto and ratified.

800 BENEFIT FROM FOSDA COVID-19 RESPONSE INTERVENTION

FOSDA ENDORSES CALL OF NATIONAL PEACE COUNCIL FOR SWIFT ACTION ON VOTER REGISTRATION VIOLENT CASES

The Foundation for Security and Development in Africa FOSDA has commended the National Peace Council’s recommendations to the Government of Ghana, Security agencies, the electoral commission, political parties and other key stakeholders in the electoral process, post the 2020 voter registration exercise.

We sadly announce the death of our Board Chair Prof Thomas Jaye. He was an indefatigable Pan Africanist. He saw the struggle in any corner of Africa as his battle and he stood this course till the end. Born in Liberia, He lived in Ethiopia, Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and Ghana. In all these places he carried the Pan African banner with him. He was a founding member of FOSDA, a responsibility he proudly held till the end. He will be gravely missed

Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), said that despite “intense and sustained” efforts by concerned countries, violent extremists continue to attack security forces and civilians alike, with children recruited into fighting in Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Nigeria.
